ABSTRACT

Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of combining electroacupuncture with long needle sacral nerve acupuncture in the treatment of diabetic overactive bladder. Methods:A total of 90 patients with diabetic overactive bladder were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group, each of 45. In addition to the basic treatment for diabetes, the observation group received electroacupuncture combined with long needle sacral nerve acupuncture 5 times a week for 4 weeks, while the control group was given 5mg of oral solinax succinate once a day as a course of treatment. One week before the beginning of the experiment and one week before its end, urination diary cards were used to record the average number of times of daytime and nighttime urination daily, as well as any urgent urination and urinary incontinence during the week. Bladder overactivity syndrome score (OABSS), the bladder overactivity quality of life questionnaire (OAB-q), maximum urine flow rate (Qmax) and mean urine flow rate (Qave) were employed to quantify urination status, life quality and the urodynamics of the 2 groups before and after the treatment. Results:After the treatment, significant improvement was observed in the average weekly incidence of daytime and nighttime urination, of urgent urination and of urinary incontinence. The average OABSS, OAB-q, Qmax and Qave scores improved in both groups, but the experimental group showed significantly better improvement than the control group. Conclusion:Electroacupuncture combined with sacral nerve needling can significantly reduce the frequency of urination, relieve the symptoms of urgent urination and incontinence, and improve the rate of urine flow, improving the life quality of patients with diabetic overactive bladder.

ABSTRACT

The croup is a common disease of upper airway obstruction in children, with high incidence rate.In severe case, it is life-threatening.Because there is no guidelines or consensus on diagnosis and treatment in China, the evidence-based research on Chinese children′s croup is also seriously lacking. Therefore, the article mainly reviews the recent research progress of croup abroad.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE To investigate the effect of norepinephrine (NE) on expression of interleu?kin-6 (IL-6) in human macrophages and explore its pro-inflammatory and pro-atherosclerotic mecha?nisms. METHODS Murine U937 macrophages were cultured and stimulated with 0.01-10μmol·L-1 of NE for 6, 9, 12, 24 and 48 h. The IL-6 mRNA level of 24 h was analyzed by RT-PCR, and IL-6 protein expression in the supernatant at 0, 6, 9, 12, 24 and 48 h was detected by ELISA. After 24 h, intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation was observed by DCF fluorescence. The cells were pretreated with antioxidant N-acetylcysteine (NAC), complexⅡinhibitor thenoyltrifluoroacetone (TIFA) and NADPH oxidase inhibitor diphenyleneiodonium (DPI) for 1 h, and stimulated with different concentrations of NE for 24 h, before the level of IL-6 protein was detected by ELISA. RESULTS The expression of IL-6 mRNA and protein increased with the concentration NE 0.01-10 μmol · L-1 and incubation time. IL-6 mRNA and protein levels in macrophages were 2.62 and 4.47-fold those in cell control group when treated with NE 1.0μmol·L-1 for 24 h. Meanwhile, as the concentration of NE increased, the generation of ROS was 1.87, 2.56, 2.91 and 5.36-fold that of cell control group (P<0.01). NAC 10 mmol · L-1 and DPI 10 μmol · L-1 significantly antagonized the effect of NE on IL-6 expression, but TIFA had no effect. CONCLUSION NE upregulates IL-6 expression, which may contribute to the formation and develop?ment of atherosclerosis via ROS mediated by NADPH oxidase in macrophages.

ABSTRACT

A hundred thirteen ears in 76 cases underwest the traumatic deafness caused by beating at the ear and head were examined with the Evoked Potential System of Nicolet Spirit and the Pure tone audiometry.113 ears were divided into two groups. One group consisted of 32 ears with the tympanal perforation, which were further divided into small, medium and big perforations. The second group consisted of 81 ears without tympanal perforation, which were classified into mild, moderate, serious, severe and profound deafness. The two groups were all examined by EcochG and ABR. The wave latent periods of EcochG and ABR of two groups (small, medium perforation;mild, moderate deafness)were statistically analysed and were compared with those of the normal control group. The results of the square deviation analysis and Q test showed the significant difference (76. 7%, P
